The first two mixed-media embroideries in this series, My Father and Last Breath, were created in response to witnessing a family member’s death from congestive heart failure. Snyder Wallace states, “This personal experience was heartbreaking to come to terms with, and as with most of life’s difficult moments, I turn to art in helping to find a path back to center.”

The body images in these mixed-media embroideries and textile-inspired assemblages are inspired by engravings dating from the late Victorian era. The vintage lace and found objects add a fragility to the fiber art echoing the vulnerability of life. Health, mortality and spirituality are explored.
