This series was sparked by the reading of Bryce Courtenay’s The Power of One. Snyder Wallace states, ” I was greatly intrigued by the concept of camouflage as a coping skill as presented in this book.”  By using a bug as a metaphor, she is exploring through mixed-media embroideries and textile-inspired assemblages ways in which people manifest their identity. A bug’s physical make-up naturally camouflages creating an inherent survival tool where as a person has to work diligently to develop their coping/survival skills. This learned behavior becomes an identity marker for the individual. This mixed-media fiber art is worthy of close inspection and contemplation.
